Then hurry to the Stadlalm in the Ridnaun Valley! It’s a beloved hiking destination for both young and old in summer and winter, known especially for its lovely sun terrace and warm hospitality.

The hut

The Stadlalm in Ridnaun, idyllically situated in the Lazzacher Valley, is an ideal destination for a family hike or a simple bike tour. After a leisurely 45-minute walk, the cozy hut offers typical South Tyrolean mountain dishes and wonderful relaxation. While adults enjoy the stunning views of the beautiful mountain landscape from the sun terrace, children can play on the playground or visit the hens and quails. The Stadlalm in the Ridnaun Valley is also a great starting point for further hikes, such as to the Moarerbergalm, Schneeberghütte, or along the popular Seven Lakes Tour.

Culinary delights at the Stadlalm

At the Stadlalm in Ridnaun, you will be warmly welcomed by Karin and Ricci and can indulge in a delightful experience. Speaking of indulgence: alongside the lovingly prepared Kaiserschmarrn, which is a true highlight and a must-try, the chef also personally crafts hearty variations of dumplings that will thrill any food lover. Other regional dishes made from fresh, natural ingredients, combined with the hosts' warm hospitality, enhance the culinary experience at the Stadlalm in the Ridnaun Valley.

In the cozy, smoke-free stube, up to 50 guests can enjoy a comfortable atmosphere. On sunny days, the spacious terrace offers another 60 guests a picturesque spot outdoors, complete with panoramic views! Unfortunately, overnight stays at the hut are not available.

Hiking directions: the route for everyone

The Stadlalm is situated above Maiern, in the valley floor of the Lazzacher Valley, a small side valley of the Ridnaun Valley. The starting point is thus the valley end of Ridnaun, at the foot of the South Tyrolean Stubai Alps. Follow Trail No. 28 along a wide path past the ore processing plant of the mine. The signposted path winds through a picturesque forest in the Lazzacher Valley. At the fork before the bridge, keep right to reach the mountain hut. After a pleasant 50-minute walk, you will arrive at your hiking destination, the Stadlalm in Ridnaun! For the return trip, plan for another 30 minutes.

In winter, the Stadlalm in Ridnaun is a popular destination for winter hikers and tobogganers. The winter hiking trail, which begins at the Mining Museum in the Ridnaun Valley, takes you through the picturesque Lazzacher Valley to the Stadlalm.

Karin and Ricci’s mountain hut is open daily from early December to Easter, without any rest days. Unfortunately, overnight stays at the hut are not possible. If you’d prefer not to trudge back through the snow, you can take advantage of the tobogganing run that has been prepared along the hiking trail! It's a fantastic opportunity for the whole family to glide down to the valley after a wonderful winter day.

In summer, the best way to reach the Stadlalm in the Ridnaun Valley is via the wide access road in the Lazzacher Valley or the educational trail from the Mining Museum, creating a lovely circular route. The hut is an ideal destination for families, inviting you to enjoy a refreshing break after a short hike. A highlight for the little ones: there’s a small playground right next to the hut.

For those who prefer to explore on two wheels and enjoy the breeze, the Stadlalm can also be reached by mountain bike or, even more comfortably, by e-bike. Additionally, the hut serves as a starting point for further hikes, such as to the Moarerbergalm, Schneeberghütte, or along the popular Seven Lakes Tour.


Stadlalm opening hours and other information

The Stadlalm in Ridnaun offers seating for up to 50 guests in its two smoke-free rooms, and on sunny days, the terrace can accommodate an additional 60 guests. Unfortunately, overnight stays are not available.

The hut is open daily without a rest day during the summer months from mid-May to the end of October, and in winter from early December to Easter. For exact opening hours, we recommend checking directly with the hosts.

Directions and parking

The Stadlalm (1,630 m) is located above Maiern, at the end of the Ridnaun Valley. You can drive via the Brenner Motorway to Sterzing and then continue to Ridnaun, with the destination being the village of Maiern. Ample parking is available at the Schneeberg Mining Museum in Maiern.
