Paula and her eight children and grandchildren have made the Plunhof a shining example of a family-run hotel in South Tyrol

Today, Paula is proud of her life’s work, which she, together with her husband Leopold, created from practically nothing 40 years ago. Even if it wasn’t always so easy, but rather often an arduous and difficult time, she still looks back with satisfaction at all the years and enjoys the fruits of her labor: Paula and her eight children and grandchildren have made the Plunhof in Ridnaun a shining example of a family-run hotel in South Tyrol.

My children and grandchildren bring me the greatest joy. All eight children are involved in the business and contribute with diligence and enthusiasm to the success of our family-run hotel in South Tyrol and to the continuation of our parents’ work. In the meantime, the third generation is already represented by some grandchildren.

“I’m Egon and I work in the kitchen with my mum, Paula.”

Early on I discovered my passion for making good food. One summer, our parents couldn’t find a chef, so without further ado, my mum, Paula, and I took care of the culinary well-being of the guests. I would be happy to show you how to prepare South Tyrolean dishes during one of our cooking classes.

“I’m Peter – passionate chef and bowler.”

I am a chef by profession and by calling. I am happy to share my passion and knowledge with our apprentices. I use my creativity in the composition of the menus, and in my free time, I like to go bowling.

“I’m Günter, the star on the construction site.”

Like our father Leopold, I have a passion for construction sites. I know every detail, I know what REI and UG values are and I am the contact person for all matters on construction sites. And when we are not expanding or redesigning the Plunhof, I sort the bottles in the Bacchus cellar and dive into the world of fine wines with you.

“I’m Petra and being in nature makes me happy.”

Breakfast service is just my thing. Afterwards, I am drawn outside into nature, high up on the mountain pastures. Breathing fresh mountain air, feeling the wind, watching the sun and the clouds dance, recognising the beauty of nature: That for me is the meaning of happiness.

“I’m Erna and I’m always up for a good time.”

During the day, my husband and I look after the cows, ponies, cats, dogs, birds, and other animals on our farm. In the evening, I throw on my dirndl and serve you dinner with a smile. I never miss out on the fun.

“I’m Gabi and I love diversity.”

Cappuccino, espresso, black tea, rooibos tea ... What can I serve you for breakfast? Afterwards, I take care of the comfortable ambience in the hotel, decorating all areas with joy and I check the rooms before your arrival. My work as president of the bowling club also fulfils me: I love variety and diversity.

“I’m Erwin, a nature-loving bon vivant.”

The best from the kitchen and cellar – I know all about that! As a fisherman and hunter, I spend a lot of time outdoors in nature and would be happy to take you fishing or wildlife watching. In nature, I draw strength for the ups and downs of life.

“I’m Thomas; I wear a lot of hats.”

In our family business, I am responsible for the office (reception), banking (finance & controlling), bureaucracy (administration), and beauty (SPA area). In this respect, I am able to live out my two sides perfectly: Accuracy and hard figures in financing and accounting as well as creativity in marketing and organisation.

A family is like a tree.
The branches may grow in different directions, but the roots hold everyone together. Only a generation that respects and knows its roots is strong enough to withstand the storms of the present.
